You may remember that over a period of time Nature magazine was running some short stories, only a page or so long, from sf writers. Although these were only initially available in the magazine and online to subscribers, they have since been made available to everyone on the Nature website. Now comes the release of these 100 short stories in an anthology, Futures from Nature. However, if you know what story you're looking for, just search the net - Nature have them on their website (the ones I've checked, at least) so it's some free short fiction to read.
I'll be looking for more in the next few days (Amazon.com have the contents list on their 'search inside' function), but some of the ones that I've read so far have been very enjoyable: Peter F Hamilton's The Forever Kitten, Neal Asher's Check Elastic Before Jumping and Tobias Buckell's Toy Planes.
Have a search, I'm sure there is something there to suit everyone!
