So, after two weeks off work I can honestly say that TV viewing is still as rubbish as ever. I did manage to watch and record a few decent things while I was off though, as well as catch some movies and a game or two here and there.
TV
I managed to switch on to the sci-fi channel at just the right time last week to get the first episode of V: The Mini Series - I then promptly set Sky to record the rest of it so I could finally watch the whole thing. I'm over halfway through the five episodes and I've enjoyed what I've watched so far. Even though it's old it still has a very simple and raw appeal and does well for having a decent story, not amazing special effects.
Doctor Who wasn't up to what I hoped and I'm just not too sure about it anymore. What they need is some fresh enemies that nobody has seen before that will really tax the Doctor - I'm sick of Cybermen and Daleks now.
Wallace and Gromit are simply brilliant, there is nothing else that needs to be said.
I've got Battlestar Gallactica: Razor recorded but I'm not watching it just yet as I'm only part way through season 2. Anyone able to let me know when it's best to fit it in the story arc?
Apart from those I've been watching my usual stuff: Miami Ink, American Chopper, Ice Road Truckers, TNA, plus the other unusual stuff that catches my eye!
Movies
I've watched some new, some new to me and some old over the Xmas period. Here's a quick rundown:
AVP - Good popcorn fun, but as a fan of the series I felt let down by it.
AVP2 - I so wanted this to be better than the first, and in some ways it is, but it also feels like a hack and slash movie. Another popcorn flick.
Tropic Thunder - Great fun, if not a little over the top. I'll definitely watch this again.
A Nightmare on Elm Street - Classic horror and the one that is responsible for all my sleepless nights as a kid. Still worth a watch.
A Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge - nowhere near as good as the first and they seemed to try and take it in a new direction. Didn't work that well.
Star Trek First Contact - One of my favourite Star Trek films.
Wall:E - Great stuff, the film of the year for 2008 :)
Babylon AD - Wow, what a bummer of a film. I enjoyed it enough throughout until we got to the last five minutes and it became obvious that they just didn't have a clue how to give it an effective ending so just decided to roll the credits. I'll never get that that time back...
Games
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King (WiiWare) - This is quite a fun little game that takes the elements of a traditional FF and doesn't let you do any of it. I know it sounds strange, but being in control of building a town, setting the shops and academies in the right place and training the towns adventurers to battle their way through the dungeons gives a rewarding feeling. It is very strategic in making you think before acting and will keep me entertained for quite a while yet.
Final Fantasy XII Revenant Wings (Nintendo DS) - I only got this the other day (for £10!) and the way that you use the dual screen to play is both strange and exciting. I died miserably at the first sing of a real fight, but it's got me intrigues enough to go back and keep on trying to master the system. It certainly makes a difference to the normal final fantasy system and I'll be looking forward to see where the story takes the adventure!
That's it for the moment - as you can see, I spent most of the holidays doing everything but reading. How that came about I don't know, but now I'm back at work I can see the gaming and movie watching take a backseat to the reading again. Roll on Easter when I'll have my next two weeks off :)

Yeah on you watching BSG. I am an unabashed BSG geek, but I am sure you recognized that already. *grin* You can watch Razor after you finish watching Season 2 as the timeline fits (not sure how far you are into Season 2 and dont want to give anything away), though there are things in there that will relate to Season 4. However, its more of a flashback film that we got after Season 3 so there shouldnt be any huge spoilers if you watch it before the next two seasons. You'll have to let me know what you think.
I can see why BSG is so popular after watching what I have so I'll be looking forward to Razor. I really have to get around to watching the rest of season 2 nice and quick, and the rest of the series - I've just seen the last half of season 4 advertised as coming soon :)
