Cover Art | Hyperion by Dan Simmons

Aidan over at A Dribble of Ink posted this Polish cover for Hyperion and I just could not resist nabbing it to put up here. I love the Hyperion books and rate the full cantos up there in my top five series, so to see an excellent cover like this that does it justice is very welcome. Here's another reminder to get around to reading them again...

Amazingly I've never read Hyperion - it came out before I returned to reading SF. I did read Simmon's The Terror a while ago and was gripped from start to finish.

Think I will go buy Hyperion right now... is it worth getting the omnibus?

It's definitely worth the omnibus, although some say that the first book is by far the superior of the four. Personally I love the Endymion books just as much, if not more!

The first book would have been the best had it been a complete story arc with no loose ends. That said, I felt the writing in the second book was just not up to the exacting standard of the first.

I have yet to delve into the rest of the series, but I am seriously considering it, especially given my inability to find good sf lately.

The Hyperion saga is my all time fav sf. Loved the Canterbury Tales style of the first book, but also really liked the change of pace style wise in the rest of the books. But yeah, the first one is a masterpiece. Really the first 2 books are setting up the last 2, & over the years I've grown to really appreciate the Anea books. Especially in today's world.

Anyway, I have all the books on CD & listen to them at work every so often. I really don't ever get sick of it..!

I love that re-imagined Shrike image you have there btw. The only thing that would make it cooler is to have a small 12 yr old girl standing next to it :-).

Though that might look a little too Bioshock haha

That is absolutely beautiful. I recently finished reading "Hyperion" and always thought that the cover art could've been much better. This one is.
