New Year Resolutions

I didn't think I was going to do any for fear of disappointment, but what the hell! With another year ahead full of some great books I wanted to set myself a few goals for my reading, reviewing and blogging. So, without further ado...
  1. Read more! I read 65 books in 2009 and 52 of those were sci-fi, but this year I plan on reading more than that. If I can read 6 books a month I'll easily hit my target, but whether or not that happens is an entirely different story!
  2. Keep on top of reviews. While this is an easy one, I sometimes find myself with a gap of a couple of weeks between what I've read and when I review it. This doesn't matter too much to me as it gives me time to reflect, but if I'm picking up the pace of my reading I want to make sure that I haven't got a backlog of reviews.
  3. Keep to a regular blog posting schedule. This is one that fluctuates with me - I can have some months where I'll post almost every day and other where I post every couple of days. This all depends on what content I've got to post, but I want to keep up the reviews, cover art, links to interesting stuff and hopefully some interviews too. In other words, continue what I have been doing :)
  4. Concentrate more on science fiction. With all the talk of the death of science fiction that has been going on recently I'm starting to get a little sick and tired of it. To highlight the fact I'll be doing my best to review quite a few 2010 releases. However, this all depends on what I actually have to read, so while I get sent some of the bigger releases of the year and buying others, there will be some I'll miss out on. If you're a publisher and have sci-fi books you'd like me to review just email me!
  5. Try and read some more YA books, with the focus on sci-fi. I would love to see what sort of literature children and teenagers have in the sci-fi genre these days so will be making an effort to seek out new releases in this field.
So, a good few things there that I think will help me along the way this year. Just remember, because I'll be focusing more on sci-fi doesn't mean you'll see no fantasy books getting featured - they'll still be considered but will ultimately take a back seat to sci-fi (with a couple of exceptions!).

What resolutions do you have?

P.S. - On a personal note I'll be trying to lose more weight (I lost about 20lbs last year) and getting fitter, but that's always there at the start of the year!

Despite how much people like you and I read, don't we always want to read more?
